Those who spam will be champions

Athletic departments are expensive ventures. Last year the University of Michigan’s operating expenses totaled nearly $125 million. That’s ok though because they brought in $130. With $27 million of that coming from donations it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about how to fundraise. But that doesn’t mean they know how to write emails.

Not sure where they got the idea that a graduate student would have the funds – or any remote semblance of an inclination – to give them money, but it’s wrong. Don’t do it. It’s almost like they were trying to give me the middle finger…

The graphic from the email:
And the url of the image reads: http://pacmail.em.marketinghq.net/content/2008000087/Middle%20Finger.jpg. I know it probably means that this images slides into the middle of the email like a finger, but that is just too good.

The letter also weirdly references Bo Schembechler simply as “he.” I know the guy won like nine five two zero national championships, but isn’t that a bit much?

  1. Ooo, posting during the work day. The Schembechler thing was weird; he's not even Michigan's greatest coach.
